Jason’s got a Pug built up now – so his tires will dwarf mine…

My CrossCheck was used for 3 years as muy everyday bike – fixed gear, fat cross tires (35, then 42s and studs). Worked great as a snow, ice, all overe bike. Miss it already – but also missed a proper MTB… so… enter the Soma.

Looking forward to some thoughts on snow and 29r… was thinking it might be a good commuter bike in the sloppy stuff with beefy treads.

There is a 2.5″ dh type tire out now in case you want more plush, Niner is selling them!

also, those tires work ok for packed snow. Rode snow machine trails last winter with those exact tires. Only thing is they will sink now and then, plus you take a beating over snowshoe tracks.

have you done a stealth ride over on rock point yet? the north end of north beach provides access to rock point, some fun trails and stunning views of the lake. there’s also a sneaky way to get back there from my place. let’s do a mtb morning soon . …
