Needed

Needed the studs I put on last night. Good fun, but I missed the wide Nokian Extremes. Time to prep the IF for roller duty and get the Soma kitted for proper winter riding. I really missed fixed + studs. Having control of the rear wheel with my legs adds a level of confidence riding ice.

Ready

The IF isn’t my first choice for my winter steed, but as I wait on a pedal rebuild,  a pedal replacement, and a busted buckle for my mtb shoes, it will wear the Nokian 35s and serve as a cold weather rider until the snow piles high. The Soma is waiting for the 294s, for fat tire fixed winter fun.

Cold

First serious cold snap here in VT. Managed 35 or so today and have been pretty consistent the last few weeks logging miles.

After playing on various tire combinations this year I’m back to my trusty Continental 4 Season GP’s. Too many flats on the Pasela’s and Challenge tires…  felt great to ride the Conti’s again.

Wet Morning

Got in a great ride this wet morning, and was treated to another rainbow. The colors faded as I approached the lake – in a matter of minutes a strong full arc double rainbow went to a single band of color looking north to town.

Fixed

First fixed ride in a long long time. Pushing the 2.2 Nevegals is work (while waiting for snow, to mount the Nokian Extreme 294s). Playing in the dirt is a nice change from the skinny tires…
