The 100k Cafe Cruise is a mellow introduction to randonneuring for north country cyclists. A populaire is one of the shortest rides on the randonneuring schedule – and the Cafe Cruise will leave Burlington and ramble to 2 of our favorite cafes while taking in some great dirt road riding. We head to On the Rise bakery for our first control via paved and dirt roads, including the twisty dirt descent of Gov. Chittenden Road and a bit of single track on the Cross Vermont Trail at the end of Johnnie Brook Road. Good eats and coffee can be had while control cards are stamped. Passing the Round Church riders take to the quiet roads of the Winooski River Valley before climbing Stage Rd., crossing the Long Trail, and enjoying views of Mt. Mansfield. We take a quick detour to the Underhill General store for our second control, followed by our second cafe stop at The Village Cup in Jericho. Dirt roads lead us back to Mallet’s Bay and the Winooski River valley for our return to Burlington.

Note – riders should carry extra cash for cafe stops. All controls are unstaffed, at local businesses. Receipts and / or signed cards by cafe / store clerks will be the operating procedure for control stops.
