Orion

Quick study, excited to get this off the camera and do a quick processing on it. I have more images to process, stack, stretch – but this is my first of Orion, right from Burlington, VT this morning.

Orion and Pleiades

The moon was just above the horizon but with an upcoming hiking / camping trip I wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the Canon 6dmk2 and Sigma 35 on my Vixen Polarie for some night sky imaging I’ve been planning. I shot from a park in the north end of Burlington, VT – with the lights from town and glow from the Moon I wasn’t expecting much – but have been pleasantly surprised.

Star Trails – Dark

Second edit of my recent star trails image pulling out the lightest of the frames as the sky changed to twilight. Processing this in Photoshop I am using layers and the lighten blending – so the blue hour version drops quite a few stars as the sky brightens and the software stacks the images to create the composite. I like both versions – the darker for the sheer number of stars that have been captured and the lighter version for the play of the lightening sky against the structure of the bridge.
