I scouted the entire 200k route last weekend, will try to ride the 114k route this weekend.
Most of the roads are in typical end of summer shape – mixes of smooth dirt, washboard, some rough stuff and chatter through the corners. There are plenty of random patches of surface changes – from packed dirt to loose gravel, and quite a few areas of washed out, tire sized ruts, mainly on the steeps. Only one stretch was closed due to downed trees, something I could have passed easily on a bike. A crew was already clearing the road, so one of the most scenic slices of road should be ready for us in a few weeks. All in, northern Vermont fared better than most of the state with the recent storms.
you’re a genius Mike! Sweet pics
Thanks Wil. Genius? Nah, just playing with some image editing toys…
It’s pretty rad. How are you approaching the ride? Casual? All out?
Sexy ads! I’ll order one for myself. I would like my Fall Classic with sun all day except between 11-2. Please also add some fall colors, good coffee and a generous dose of good company.
Greg, I can help with the color (likely), the coffee (Village Cup!), and the company. Hopefully monsoon season will end and we’ll have a day as nice as last year.
Wil,
Well, since little one #2 arrived I haven’t been on the bike much. All out for me will likely be what of takes to ride at most peoples social pace… 😉
Planning on 200k, for sure.
I’m riding casual-ish. I will be one week off of the VT50 which means I may not have much left in the tank. It will be nice to get together with everyone. Greg, look forward to seeing you out there.
Looks spectacular … wish I could be there!
Can’t Wait!!!
