Morning

Starting to get back into my ‘routine’ of an early morning ride. I have some mixed terrain loop options – anywhere from 12-18 miles, depending on how I stitch together trail, path, road, and some dirt. Camel’s Hump was bathed in early morning light, and the Winooski was very still.

I carried the new (holiday present) eTrex20 to start learning how to make it do what I need. I hope to map out all of the local trails in the next week or so, and I need to find the flow in the local woods again. Since I mashed my face I haven’t spent much time riding the rocky, rooty, and sometimes flowy local single track.

Morning Sun

Light in the morning. A pleasure with the unseasonably warm temps. Knickers, a jersey, and a light jacket. My morning loop includes bike path, some single track, and a bit of downtown road riding. Swapping out the Nokian Extremes for the WTB Vulpines this weekend made a huge difference in the Fargo. All morning I was thinking about how fast I was moving – until I got passed by someone on a proper skinny tired road bike (with their music on and head down) hammering up the path out of town.

A view to Camel’s Hump from BTV 5 minutes into my morning.

A sunrise view to the ‘big’ mountain, Mount Mansfield, from the edge of the Intervale.

A great way to start the day.

Mud Season

The winter that wasn’t is turning into a strange spring. Unseasonably warm, and the ground is turning to mud. Sure wish I could splurge on some Nates.

Crunchy

Our snow turned to a crunchy and thin top coat – I ventured out on the Fargo today with studs to explore a bit and enjoy the sun and blue sky. Pushed the chain into the spokes twice, had to adjust the limit screw in the field – have no idea how that came out of adjustment. A few snaps from today follow, have a bunch more but need time to process them.

Twas a good day. Tea and homemade baked goods on the beach, blue sky, sunshine, and a bike ride.

Winter

Finally a bit of snow… the 8 to 12 never arrived, and this snow is fleeting, already disappearing. The few hours it clung to the trees were refreshing.
