Touring
Lots of touring cyclists out today… in the wet wet rain. Most have been more heavily loaded than this pair.
Return of Summer
The rain has returned after a short break. With the wide(r) semi knobbies the fixed xc is sporting my old mtb tail fender. The Showers Pass jacket continues to impress.

Surly LHT seen downtown. Nice racks, plenty of water, fat tires.
Cycle Celebrate Champlain
Great ride this past weekend. Bordering on burnout I opted to head out on the century route and adjust as I felt necessary. John and Jim felt the same, Patrick went off the front to tackle the 200k route. We dodged the rain, enjoyed the bike ferry and wonderful carless crossing to the islands, feasted at Hero’s Welcome, then modified the route to include the Plattsburgh Ferry – catching Patrick at a convenience store. We grabbed the Burlington Ferry back to town… as the sun baked us and the waves washed our bikes.

Turtle
A wet friend this morning, as the rain comes down again. Oddly enough, I’ve been thinking about single speed and fixed gear bikepacking while out on the Surly. Perhaps I’ve channeled Kent ‘The Mountain Turtle’ Peterson to Vermont? (Kent is ‘practicing‘ for another ride on the GDR, and his site is inspiring, for sure!)
