School Riding

We’ve managed to pack in a few rides home from school. This sometimes requires me to tow both bikes to the waterfront, so the girls can ride home.

Yuba to the Park

The 4 year old is wanting to ride more, so we ventured to the park this weekend for practice. She made it most of the way… and we cargo carried her bike for a short stretch. Then she rode the whole way home.

We’ll be starting our ride into school after the spring break, and I’ll be sad when our camp / school rides end next year as both girls will be at school about ~12+ miles away from home (unless dad gets into monster shape!)

Mt. Philo

I’ve been spending more time on the IF now that I’ve got the brakes and tire selection dialed in for my dirt / pave style of riding. Last Sunday I did a common road loop from Burlington out to Mt. Philo. I usually loop around the ‘mountain’ on dirt and take in portions of the covered bridge loop – but I decided on the way out to climb the road and take in the view. I felt stronger than I thought I would – and surprised myself.

Its a short, but steep climb. ~44 miles round trip. And I felt good pulling into the headwind coming home.

Dawn Patrol

Fall is here, and with it a change in daylight. I’ve been riding early – in the dark. The Krampus has been getting a thorough workout – bike path, road, single and double track. I have an 8-12 mile loop I can ride, 3 good (short but steep) climbs, can mix in rocky technical riding, and can get a good workout before the kids get up. Today included some trail work – I’ve been climbing over a 4″ tree all week – today I remembered the saw and trimmed it out of the trail.
